A rather plain looking wall on a balcony in Tenerife that I thought I might have some fun with.

 

 Just a couple of days later the wall is transformed into a popular local scene of the island of La Gomera through an imaginary Roman archway


This is an example of 'Trompe l'oeil' or 'trick of the eye'   Anything can be painted on a suitable wall or piece of furniture from a simple flower to an intricate landscape.

This is another example of trompe l'oeil . A plain circular window can be transformed into a carved stone window.
