I am currently based in Sydney NSW but most of my works were painted in England where I was involved in horse breeding and showing. I ran the Sainfoin stud in Yorkshire and through that I have painted many equine portraits for owners over the last forty years. Click on the Gallery tab to view some of my work. The images of the early paintings are scans of photographs so are not as sharp as modern digital images, appologies for that but I wanted to include them anyway.
My my main influence is the work of Sir Alfred Munnings who had a tremendous understanding of equine confirmation and his paintings have a very loose feel with bold confident brush strokes.
I also paint landscapes and seascapes and I have included a few in the Gallery. Another style of painting that I really enjoy is Trompe L'oeil Which is painting a wall or surface to look like something completely different, the translation is loosely 'trick of the eye' I have some examples in the Gallery.
If you want to know more about commisioning a painting feel free to e-mail me or if you prefer to chat give me a call. There's absolutely no obligation and I am happy to listen to your ideas. I never ask for payment untill the work is finished to your complete satisfaction. I find that works best for both customer an artist.
